Sugar Mountain is a recording and mixing studio founded and operated by producer, recording and mixing engineer, Philip Weinrobe. Nestled into the basement of a townhome, the constraints of a 550 sq. ft. footprint were solved for with 13 pieces of custom furniture. Vertical lines in the back of the room are contrasted with asymmetrical angled forms in the ceiling cloud and front wall fabric design. The warmth of solid pine and yakisugi frame the more neutral fabric finishes around the space and serve in key locations as acoustical elements to ensure a short but lively room tone. Acoustically, the room is treated with several types of absorption, and the front wall trapezoid design houses a large tuned membrane absorber. The studio features a selection of carefully curated vintage and custom equipment, tape machines, and instruments.
