Pal Waaktaar-Savoy

Pal’s home studio spans a portion of a basement in a double wide townhome. A substantial modular synthesizer sits in front of a wall of pressure-based tuned membranes and velocity-based absorption faced with stained pine slats, which ensure the performance area remains lively for recording tasks. Porous absorption on the ceiling, front wall, and rear corners ensure unwanted reflections are kept to a minimum. Custom industrial style welded steel tables with pine work surfaces allow for easy rearrangement on casters. The main work surface is a solid pine table with integrated oil-tanned leather bolster and flush mounted Avid control surface. Underlit hollow floating shelves house cabling to hook up an extensive collection of guitar effects pedals, all of which wire to the patchbay in the front of the room.
